In Ascea there is a very long beach, which starts from the Punta del Telegrafo cliff in Ascea Marina and reaches the port of Casal Velino Marina.
To understand the position of the beaches of Ascea and of the entire coast of the Gulf of Velia it is useful to remember that, observing and having the sea in front of you, we find on the right the stretch of sandy beach while on the left you can see the stretch of rocky coast in which there are also coves and small caves, some of which can only be reached by boat or swimming.
The rocky stretch and the cliff of PUNTA DEL TELEGRAFO in ASCEA MARINA
The cliff of Ascea Marina, also known as Punta del Telegrafo, takes its name from the suggestive Torre del Telegrafo, located right on the beach.
The GOLDEN BEACH of ASCEA The very long beach, with fine, golden sand, which goes from Punta del Telegrafo to Casal Velino Marina offers a unique landscape in any season of the year and at all hours of the day. The sunset is very fascinating with a unique feeling of peace and silence, interrupted only by the pleasant sound of the waves of the sea of ??Cilento and the Gulf of Velia. On the wide dunes close to the beach, you can easily find the sea lily or 'Giglio Pancrazio' (Pancratium maritimum) which is a white wild flower with an intense aroma that arises spontaneously on the pristine beaches of Ascea and Cilento. The sea lily is the symbol of purity and, for this reason, it is often associated with some religious icons and various saints venerated in Southern Italy, as well as with various legends.
Useful information on the beaches of Ascea
The coast of Ascea Marina is also suitable for those who do not like deep water: once you enter the water, in fact, you gradually descend towards high water. For this reason, the beaches of Ascea are particularly suitable for children as well. The beach is golden, long and sandy, with small stones on the shore making it very pleasant to walk on the shoreline. There are free beach areas and areas with equipped beaches, for a fee. Compliance with the measures adopted in the period of Covid-19 is ensured thanks to the spacing that, even on the free beach, is provided by poles in which you can insert your umbrella. For about 3 km of coastline, there is a cycle path that runs along the beach. The beaches of Ascea Marina are suitable for dog and animal lovers: in some areas there are Pet Friendly areas, with dedicated spaces.
